Meeting #4 - Camping Creations, 10 June 2012

My Caravan and Kayak with Motorbike by Otis F.

I wanted to build a toy-hauler.  The kayak was the last thing I made, with the trailer too.  There is a seat in the middle that changes into a bed, if you open up the back.  The motorbike has a stand.  The guy has no wetsuit but his clothes are waterproof because he needs that for the racing kayak.  The caravan has a light on top because its also a rescue truck.

Campground by Noah L.

I made this campground, with cars in the carpark and a campervan in the park too for people can come to the campsite.  There are people toasting marshmallows over a fire.  There's a toilet, two tents, a bike with a bikerack - also two adults, a kid and there's a place to store firewood in the boxes. Inside the toilet there is a toilet with a seat made out of a life-ring, and toilet paper.  Also, the family brought their dog.  My sisters Lulu and Willa helped a bit.

Forest Campground by Lachlan.
Over at the fire, there's nobody roasting marshmallows, but there is a marshmallow and a stick.  The tree next to the fire has an owl on top and a beehive hanging from  it - my little brother Joel made the bees.  There's a gun to roast the fish on the end of it.  I also made matches in a matchbox out of three pieces of lego.  There's a sleeping bag and you can take the guy out of the sleeping bag.

Lachlan cont'd.  There's a little pond and I made a little fish and a frog eating a fly on a lily pad.  There's a rat trying to steal the hanburger, and I made a tent - it's closed at the  back and open at the front.  That's pretty much it.

Campground in a field by Henri.

There's a cabin that has a roof that open and closes, and the door opens too.  It has a table and a bed and a TV.  There's a red picnic table and some peoplewith a lunchbox eating there.
There's a guy roasting a marshmallow, and a guy sitting on the toilet.  There's a BBQ for roasting sausages or anything you want - it's a gas BBQ with a hose leading to the gas bottle.
There's also a treehouse for the kids to play and there's a table that's green and round.  The seat for the table swivels around.  And I made a tree.

My Creation Part 1 - by Harry
There are two campers.  One of them is walking along a bridge that goes over a canyon that has filled up with water and become a river.  The other camper is roasting multi-coloured marshmallows. There is a hut with a calendar on the cabinet, and a table with two cans of soft drink on it.
My Lego Creation Part 2 - by Harry.

There's a beach on one side and the sea on the other side.  On the beach, there are two coastguard workers.  One is on a mounted platform and the other one is looking after the oxygen tanks for mixed things, like giving to rescued people or to put in the divers' tanks.  On the sea, there is an overturned rowboat which a Navy Admiral fell out of, and the coastguard diver rescued him.  The coastguard's vehicle has got a jetski on the back, which the guy with the helmet rides.

Trailer, Sleeping Bag, Car Bike and Campervan by Samuel.

My campervan is from a moon set of Lego, but I made my own top for it and made a bed for the inside.  The bike is from my agent's car Lego set, but I changed it to be a normal car. Also I turned it into a getaway vehicle by connecting the motorbike to the car like a sidecar.  I made my trailer with a small board and  side bits, and then I put  two kayaks on it so that if there was an ocean near the campsite, you could go paddling with the paddles.  The car tows the trailer.  Also, I made a sleepingbag, using a flat baseplate and top and some side bits - and my guy can go in it with a dressing gown on. Below is my sleeping bag with a guy in it.

4WD pick up by Otis W.

I helped make a bushwalk outside our house with loads of wood for the pathway.   My mum and dad paid me to help do the work, and with the money i bought this 4WD Lego set, because its a great car for camping in.  It has an opening boot and bonnet.

Decisions for this week:

1 We'll rotate the job of who brings the snacks.  Snacks will be something like 1 bag chips, 1 pkt cookies, fruit - or whatever else you prefer.

2  We'll meet every second week - next meeting Sunday 24 June 3:30pm.  Lachlan brings snacks.

3  Next meeting theme: Dinosaurs/Prehistoric Park.  Examples of what we could make:  enclosures, a big base for people, cars, transport trucks, trees, a giant robo dinosaur, flying dinosaurs, hanging dinosaurs, cranes for lifting dinosaurs etc.

4 IB Legobuilders Camping Trip:  we are keen to do this.  2 cabins at Paekakariki Campground would cost approx $200.  Our fundraising ideas are (1) carwash, (2) lemonade stand and baking, (3) earn money from our talents eg piano, guitar, dance, music etc.  We'll think about this some more and find a location for the carwash, then talk about it again and book a date next meeting.
