Meeting # 3: playground creations, 27 May 2012

Here is a picture of our whole playground - it's a playground by everyone.
Below is a description of each piece of playground equipment.

The Wall of Doom, The Slide of Death and Miniscule Seesaw by Grainger.
It's WAY cool.  Took me 1 day to build this equipment.

Seesaw by Otis F
this is a mini seesaw and it's way cool!. it has two clones on it. i made it out of green platform for the surface of the thing. star wars people sit on each side of the seesaw and a thin white piece was added to make it higher. There is a green stick for the people to sit on...

Flying Fox by Samuel.

I got the idea of the flying fox after finding this rope from a fire set.  I had to build it up and make it strong.  It was really hard working out how to make it work, I tried a few things until I found this round base he's sitting on.  Then I cut some string  and tied it on.  Awesome it works!  There are steps up the side so you can climb to the top.

Topple Tower, High Seesaw and Balance Beam by Harry.   This is my creation.  If I made the balance beam higher it would have been a "thriller playground" because the seesaw has no bits to hold onto, and it's so high.  And the topple tower has no restraining parts.

Slide-Seat-Tree by Noah.
I made this tree because playgrounds have trees.  I made this seat because people sit on seats in playgrounds.  This is a big slide, two minifigures could go on it at once.

 Way Cool Swing by Lachlan.
I made this swing and it can swing forwards, it was quite tricky to make.  I made it upside down because the hinges could only be connected that way to make it swing.  I used a big flatpiece for the bottom and for the seat, I used those pieces with the cross holes on the inside.

Climbing wall with Rope Ladder  and Fireman's pole, and Plank by Lachlan.
There's a guy on the plank with a sword, making the other guy "walk-the-plank", and he's going to fall face first into the bush.  The guy with the sword is a little boy but with areally huge sword that is so heavy he might topple over. And the plank can turn into a slide - cool.

The Jet Seesaw by Josh.
This is mini-scale.  The person sits inside the sloping front part, and they put in a dollar and it goes up and down and side-to-side, for about 3 minutes.  It's for 4-7 year olds.  I think Lego Club is cool.

The Swing of Death by Henri.
If you swing on the swing you die because it makes you fall off.  This swing will be in every playground, but it will have a danger sign.

The Warplane That Crashed by Henri.
It's a piece of playground equipment - people can climb on it.  It crashed because a guy with a gun shot it, it fell out of the sky, it crashed into the playground and then everyone wanted it to stay in the playground to climb on.

OTHER MODELS by members of the IB Legobuilders:
Angry Birds by Grainger.

My angry bird is multicoloured because i didn't  have quite the right pieces. I got the instructions off the internet on how to make the angry birds, but i couldn't find instructions for the pigs, so i just got little green dots for them.  the slingshot is made from a rubber band.

Decisions this week:

1  Next meeting is on Sunday 10 June at 3:30pm.

2  The theme for next meeting is Camping Creations:  we can make tents, campfires, sleeping bags, a camping bus,  hut, campervans, bikes, food, trees/forest, cars for driving there and a carpark, cooking, bears, animals in the forest, birds, horses, a swingbridge and whatever else we can think of.

3  We decided to plan an Island Bay Legobuilders Mid Winter camping trip.  We'll plan this next week.

4  We can email any pictures and explanations of our creations to jennifer@wishbonedesign.com before the club meeting if we have them.

5  Another theme for a future meeting could be the Underworld.  The types of things we might build are:  a big lavapit, Haedes (a cave with a sword-guy and lightening), a zombie army, the living dead, monsters, monster tanks.

Meeting # 2: Lego Creations for a City

Noah L.  these are my vehicles and they are way cool.  There is a little car that's a convertible. There are 2 motorbikes with a sidecar.
Noah cont'd.   There is a car that's like an offroad delivery van.  And there is an offroad jeep.

4x4 Bike by Otis F. This is a 4WD motorbike, the lights look like cannons and also there is a man.  The guy's helmet looks like a mandalurian helmet, and he's wearing a police seat and pants from Prince of Persia.
Speedraft by Otis F.   This is my raft - its fast.  it has jets and it has a good shape.  It has parts to make it float underneath.  The spikes at on the wings are just to make it look awesome.
Samuel.  I have a motorbike that my Dad stole from my uncle.
There is a secret garage with a laser, so that noone can break into the garage.  Also I have a secret agent's car that has two cannons and a secret security camera underneath the surfboard.
House with Monster Crab Attacking by Harry.  This is me on a skateramp.  This is a baby monster crab that's attacking the house where I live.  The black thing is a jail cell. This is a custom stockcar with a painting of a firy skull on the roof and clips ont he side to hook on accessories.  There are police ont he roof chasing a robber. The house has a collapsing roof.

Below picture:  The Pool of Awesomeness by Otis W.  I just made this last night quickly.  I found some pieces from a broken down powerminers set.  I made this supercool diving board t hat catapaults people into the air.  Sometimes people get knocked out when they jump off the board, mainly because they hit the bar.  I used a hinge and I had to choose whether to make it a diving board or a waterslide.

Mini Hovercraft by Samuel.  My hovercraft has a steering wheel at the front and a machine gun under the right wing.  It has a ledge where you put guns.  The guy is from a space police set.

Candy Dispenser by Noah.   Noah fed the Island Bay Lego Builders with Jaffas from his Candy Dispenser.  Nice.
AND FINALLY:  here we are, all the Island Bay LegoBuilders.....

Meeting Notes:

#1 - welcome to our club

Moonbuggy by Otis W.
This was built out of random pieces.  I was searching for one piece I lost.  I found a bunch of pieces.  At first i didn't know what it was and then I figured out it was a moonbuggy.  Its way cool.

Police Space Spy Base by Henri and Grainger.

We chucked a few bricks together and made this.  We tipped out every box of lego we had and randomly put it together.  There is a control tower with super lasers and lasers - see second picture below.  There are lots of computers and a dual powered supergun.  We  have one land speeder and one air speeder, and one bigger base ship.  We turned a police motorbike into a bike with three guns on the front - pretty mean.  And we found a TV and put it on the base wall.

Spy Ship by Otis F.
My model is a huge ship. I got random pieces. I used a windscreen like on Noah's ship and I made it quite big with more t han 100 pieces.  It has a cabin, cockpit, lifeboat,s some cannons, a motor that I got from one of the Atlantis sets.  I put a chain up for a docking stand and it hooks up to the docks when the boat comes in. It is a battleship - it looks like a cargo ship, but with less space.  And it has all the characters I have on it - about 10.

Decisions from the First Meeting:

            IBLB Manifesto
